I have made a few things with plarn. It's when you take plastic shopping bags and cut them into strips. You then connect them and crochet with it. Great way to use up the bags. Here's some finished projects on my Flickr if you would like to see them.

Wow thats nice way to recycle plastic bags. I tried that one and made a simple white tote bag but I was not a bit happy about it. I guess im not used with the plastic medium and try again sometime.

Those are really cool!  I may have to try that some time when I get a little free time.  (Like my list of projects isn't long enough! LOL!)  Thanks for the good idea!

That's fantastic!  How do you get the pieces of plastic connected?  Do you simply tie them together?

I think I may have to try that as part of my Craft Supply Challenge on HandmadeNews.org

That is a fantastic idea!  My friend has a beach tote that someone made for her out of plastic bags.  When I first saw it, I thought it was some sort of macrame or something.  It's really, really cool.
