Very happy with the finished product. I love that I was able to maintain the feel of the original wedding dress, and that the "windows" and stripes around the skirt looked great gathered. The bonnet was made from the bodice, using the attached embellishments, but I had to trim back a bit of the lace applique, which I then reused on the the center section and at the back, to balance out the overall look. Can't wait to see a photo of it on the baby!

Because I work on wedding gowns at the bridal shop, I must be a bit immune! I do deconstruction and reconstruction there all of the time, so it is just like that only more fun because the end result is something new and different instead of the same thing only smaller or larger.... I have to admit, though, that the historical ones are a bit harder for me than the newer ones! Sometimes the historical ones are just TOO COOL as they are, and I hate to start in, but once you begin there is no going back, so after that I'm usually fine.
Very beautiful transformation!
What a beautiful example of recycling to the MAX! Don't know how in the world you can make that first cut into a wedding gown though.
